What Inspires Me

Many people have asked “What inspired you to start grooming?”, I can honestly say it was my dad. Growing up we had a toy poodle. My parents never bothered bringing her to a groomer but decided to do it themselves. I enjoyed watching my dad shave her and sometimes I even got to help.
My dad liked to shave her really short so he wouldn’t have to do as often. Me on the other hand, hated her short fur. I felt ashamed for her. I decided the next time she needed another hair cut I’d get to her before my dad. This being my first time, took me a good three hours. And once I was done she still didn’t look as good as I had hoped. Once the hair grew longer I tried again. And many more times after that. I have learned routines and differ ways on how to handle a dog that help get the job done in a reasonable time. I can’t remember my exact age when I started but I’m 21 years old now and I have gotten much better. I love grooming dogs and it is my goal to make a career out of it. Because no business starts off strong, I teach kindergarten three days a week. I am busy grooming on days I don’t teach.

Here is a photo of the hair cut she got from the man who inspired me!
This is all so amazing, Trudy! Nice work!
